RoadWatch® 3 gives the early warning you need to adjust to icy roads, before disaster can strike! When the road surface reaches 35ºF, a warning light alerts you to potentially dangerous icy road conditions.

RoadWatch® 3 Infrared Technology

RoadWatch® 3 uses the same infrared technology as heat seeking missiles. Only RoadWatch® 3 measures the temperature of asphalt or concrete road surfaces, and displays the temperature on a the mirrors LED display.

The RoadWatch® 3 monitors both road surface and air temperature. By using passive infrared technology, RoadWatch® 3 can actually detect the possiblity of freezing road surface temperature and icing conditions.

The sensor is located on the bottom of the mirror. A small window in the sensor allows infrared energy from the road surface to be focused into a detector, processed, then displayed on the LED temperature display.

The FlipTemp™ LED Display shows both air and road temperature on the same readout. Air temperature is displayed until the road surface temperature drops below 40ºF (4ºC). At this point the display will flip to the infrared road surface temperature and the Caution LED is displayed.

When the road surface temperature drops below 10ºF (12ºC) or rises above 50ºF (10ºC), the display changes back to air temperature and the Caution LED turns off.

The LED display automatically adjusts to light to provide optimum readability during daytime and nighttime conditions.
